The correct installation of process control equipment - field and
control room, is essential to achieve:
- minimum commissioning time;
- minimisation of safety risks;
- good on-stream factor;
- minimisation of 'life time' costs.
In addition to these benefits correct installation is an
essential requirement to ensuring all EX equipment is installed to
EN 60079 -14 and its certification requirements.
Where Instrumented Safety Functions are being applied to meet the
identified Risk Reduction then it is imperative that such functions
are fully in conformance with the design installation requirements.
The most economical and systematic method of achieving the above
is to use a quality assurance check list. Such list will monitor
that the installation requirements for each type of equipment are
achieved and where a non-conformance is identified it is corrected
early in the installation programme. This will avoid costly
modifications and delays if only an 'end of construction' quality
audit is done.
